As a preorder bonus for Dragonslayer, I wrote a short story exploring some of the lore of the old dragonslayers, the Chevaliers of the Silver Circle, that’s mentioned in The Dragonslayer trilogy. The Drake of White Peak is about one of the most legendary chevaliers, Valdamar, when he is still a young man setting off on his first dragon hunt.
The details on how to get your copy of The Drake of White Peak can be found over on the Macmillan website, which is here:
Tor have released an excerpt for Dragonslayer, so if you weren’t lucky enough to get your hands on an ARC, you can read a little chunk of it over on Tor’s website. Here’s the link:
I will be running some more giveaways over the next few weeks, so stay tuned if you haven’t bagged a copy. Sadly, for various reasons, GRDP in Europe being one of then, it is impossible for me to run giveaways outside of the US and Canada at the moment. Being based outside of the US and Canada myself, I realise how frustrating that is, but unfortunately it’s beyond my resources to get around this, so please accept my apologies!
Tor have just released a free sampler book, MagicXMayhem. It contains a chunk of Dragonslayer, along with chunks of some other great fantasy stories that are upcoming this year. As well as my own wonderful self, you can find excerpts from Sarah Gailey, Seanan Maguire, and JY Yang, among others. You can download a free copy by clicking on any of the images in this post, or at this link:
Hey everyone! We’re running a giveaway for some advance copies of Dragonslayer over on Goodreads at the moment. If you want to get your hands on a copy in advance of release, this is a good way to try! You can find the giveaway entry page here:
With the different route to publication that I’m taking with the Dragonslayer trilogy, partnering up with Tor, there are plenty of new experiences for me along the way. One of those is getting the occasional mention in trade press. It’s my first time being mentioned in one of these, so I thought I’d share it. You can take a look:
I’ve set up a group there also, which you can join to keep in the loop in the run up to Dragonslayer’s release on 2 July 2019. There’ll hopefully be giveaways, excerpts, and artwork reveals as we get closer to the big day, so that’ll be a good spot to keep up to date with those!
It’s definitely been too long since I last posted an update – apologies! My only excuse is that I’ve been incredibly busy working on the three Dragonslayer books with Tor. They’re still on schedule for publication next year!
The news of the day is that the Society of the Sword audiobook has been nominated for a SOVAS award in the Best Voice Artist category, for Derek Perkins. I think he did an incredible job in narrating it. Win or lose, I think Derek brought a huge amount to the audio production, and the nomination is the least amount of recognition he deserves.
The awards are on 18 November, so I wish him the best of luck, and am sorry I won’t be able to make it to the ceremony myself!
Hey everyone, I hope the new year is going well for you!
Things have been pretty busy over here since Christmas, and there’s some news to announce in that regard.
I’ve just agreed to a 3 book deal with Tor. The first book in that trilogy, Dragonslayer, will be out early next year. Those of you who are current with my work will have seen a hint of dragons (indeed, a couple of people have mailed asking about that!). They’ll be appearing centre stage in this trilogy, with some new heroes to meet and locations to explore in my Middle Sea world. I’m really pleased with how the story has developed, and I hope those of you who’ve enjoyed my work to date will think it’s my best yet!
It’s a pretty exciting time, and there’s lots of work to be done, but I’ll do my best to keep my updates as regular as I can. Thanks again for all your interest and support!
